{s.i.m.p.l.e. valentine crafts} v.3

{s.i.m.p.l.e. valentine crafts}
valentine's day decorating series, part 3

Welcome to part 3 of  {s.i.m.p.l.e. valentine crafts} series!  If you missed previous posts, check them out here. This week it's is all about the kids!

For these hand crafted valentines we used:
  • tub of spongy valentine stickers from Jo-Ann's
  • packages of valentine doilies in various sizes (dollar store)

First, we sorted all of the stickers in piles, as they all come mixed together in the tub.  It was time consuming with the little ones, and borderline annoying - but, really it offered a great critical thinking activity for them.

Next, they peeled and placed the names and pictures on the doilies.

This turned out to be a fun educational activity as we talked about how to sound out and look for the letters in the names.  Side note:  This is what happens to teacher's kids...everything becomes an educational activity - we can't help ourselves!

All of the letters didn't end up in exactly the right place, but I think that adds to the charm of each one, and I am sure the recipients won't mind!

When I bought these, I was thinking they would just be something fun for the kids. I didn't realize how purposeful the activity would be or cute they would turn out!
